What is Prop 65?

“You could think of Proposition 65 more as a ‘right to know’ law than a pure product safety law.” Oehha.CA.GOV

This Warning is a result of The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, or more generally referred to as “Proposition 65”.

It is important to note the warning does not mean that Pivet products will cause any harm and does not mean a product is in violation of any product-safety standards or requirements.

“the fact that a product bears a Proposition 65 warning does not mean by itself that the product is unsafe.” Oehha.CA.GOV

So why is there a Prop 65 Warning Label on my Pivet Case?

Pivet Cases are designed to comply with all applicable laws, including Proposition 65 and we have done everything we can to ensure they are safe not only for you the customer but also the environment. However, we are unable, with 100% scientific certainty, to know whether or not a particular product requires a warning for any one of the more than 850 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list.

For a complete listing, visit the official OEHHA website.

Pivet would not produce products that we believe are harmful, and we will continue to comply with all safety laws in addition to independent testing to ensure our products are safe.

Why is the warning on all products and not just those sold in California?

Pivet products are sold nationwide, and it would be costly just to ensure just those sold in California are labelled. In addition, we support the Prop 65 ‘right to know’ act, regardless of location, and will always be transparent with where and how Pivet products are made.
